Introduction

Hello all,

I would like to introduce you to my professional role; I am a lecturer at Al-Quds Open University (QOU) in Jerusalem-District since 1992. This spring, I teach three courses: Introduction to Computer Science, computer in education, and system analysis, I will also supervise one student graduation project.

The aim of QOU through adopting the philosophy of Open Education and Distance Learning is delivering science and knowledge to all segments of society. This philosophy has embarked university doors to students from employees, workers, farmers, housewives, and fresh secondary education graduates to join the university within the five programs of study. These programs are Education program, Management Science and Economics Program, Computer Science, Social Development program and Agriculture program.

Teaching at QOU is very challenging nowadays because lecturers have to utilize technology intensively in their teaching and in different ways; also it is very challenging to our students' especial those who have limited knowledge of technology and computers. I will deliver these three courses mentioned above in three different ways.

Blended Learning will be used to deliver computer in education to the students, this is done by using Moodle as the platform to bring the theories to the students and for discussions and assessment, and I have an Elluminate Virtual Class where I can meet my students and arrange an on-line lectures and/or discussions, and there will be four face to face meetings during the course; as you can see my role here varies between teaching and facilitating.

E-Learning will be used to deliver Introduction to Computer Science to the students, this is done by our university academic portal to run the discussions and assessment and using OLAT platform to deliver learning activates to the students ; learning activates that is brought to the students over OLAT is moderated be another colleague; and my role with all this is to work as a Facilitator and I have to review the material with the students using discussion forums and a limited face to face meeting with the students.

face-to-face and traditional lectures will be used to deliver system analysis course to the students

Now, I am a part-time Ph.D. student at Lancaster University in e-research and TEL.

Thanks
